VERACITY FOODIE REPORT – Steak & Shake – 2999 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins, GA 31093

While focusing on the bustling business district of Warner Robins’ Watson Blvd., of late, our team decided to visit the Steak & Shake located just in front of the Target and Academy Sports shopping center. This is what we found

Always trying to find great foodie deals for our readers, when we found out that the Steak & Shake in Warner Robins, Ga. offers a half-price ‘happy hour’ on their legendary thick shakes, we decided we should check it out.

For a complete list of happy hour days and times, we’ve included this link to the Steak & Shake website so you can check and make sure you go at the right times to get the discount. This is not an affiliate link and we, in no way, get compensated by Steak & Shake for linking you to their website, just so you know – though a free shake once in a while would be nice (haha kidding).

Our team visited the restaurant on September the first, at about 2:15 in the afternoon. The restaurant now leaves menus on the table, along with applications for employment, so if you’re thinking about a job in the fast food/ice cream restaurant industry, they’re definitely hiring.

The menu is much reduced from what it once was. We expect that this is company-wide and probably still COVID-related, but we’re only guessing about that. It’s a bit of a bummer because they used to have really excellent vegetable soup which is just no longer available.

Our folks found the restaurant and its bathrooms to be very clean and well-kept.

We didn’t have to wait long to be seated or to be asked about our drinks by our Server-in-Training, Loraine. We’re breaking a bit from protocol here and mentioning her by name because she did such a great job, our team actually broke down and told Loraine as they were leaving (after our evaluation was already complete), that they were evaluating and reviewing the restaurant and the food quality/prices.

When they did, Loraine gave them permission to mention her by name, making sure they knew there was only 1 ‘n’ in her name. We gotcha covered girlfriend!

After we went through the much-shortened menu, Loraine and her trainer suggested that they also had a Mushroom Swiss Double burger which wasn’t on the menu but was very good, complete with an explanation of what came with it and how it was made – things that are traditionally unheard of in fast food dining – anywhere.

The recommendation sounded so good, that our folks decided to try them and they absolutely did not disappoint! Our team also ordered 2 Reese’s milkshakes (one with actual Reese’s Cups in it, and one without). They also ordered a side order of the S&S fried onion rings, and decided to take Loraine up on her other suggestion to try their new parmesan fries ( each for an extra $.29).

Our team agrees, that was probably the best $.58 they ever spent, at least on food.

As you can expect, the quality of the shakes is the reason why they rate being included in the name of the place. These things were sheer, frozen awesomeness, right down to the maraschino cherries on top.

But perhaps the best surprise of all was the part that usually causes dread- the check! Our team got all of these mouth-watering lunch items for a combined $22.74!

It was so good that even without the happy hour discounts of $4.48, this lunch would have been an excellent value and would have elicited not a single complaint about the prices or the food!

In fact, if we truly want to nitpick the heck out of this visit, the only real detraction was that the shakes were so thick when our team got them, they couldn’t suck them up through the straws! So they had to sit there and torturously wait a few minutes, salivating like Pavlov’s dogs, for the delicious ice cream to melt a little.

Our overall grade: A+

Conclusion:

The Positives:

  1. The food was Excellent
  2. The staff was AMAZING, especially for a trainee!
  3. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean and attractive, producing only good aromas
  4. The price was incredible in today’s inflationary atmosphere

The Negatives:

  1. The restaurant has a very limited menu (much reduced from what it once was)
  2. The milkshakes were so thick that our staff had to wait to drink them (this really was a form of torture)
